Consultant

Entertainment Project Expert

As a game developer, I have directed game projects from start to finish, focusing on Game Design, Level Design, and Production. In addition, I’ve worked with publishers such as SEGA, Electronic Arts, and Activision on blockbuster franchises such as Iron Man, Spider-Man, Captain America, Madagascar, and Shrek. With a strong background in games, education, and human-computer interaction I also act as a consultant on nonprofit and entertainment.

My work in the video game industry has received Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Award for best video game, Indie Game of the Year, and Innovation Awards from multiple sources. It’s been a long time since my start on the Game Boy Advance, and I’ve learned that putting gaming into new mediums is a detailed and iterative process that relies on a game designer and the team around them. And I’m up for the challenge! Hire me as a consultant and let’s make a game that will delight your audience on stage or screen.

    Training, Healthcare, and Education consultant

Companies come to me for many reasons, but usually, there’s an idea of something “gamey” that can help in their business. Interactive software is beneficial to

    • Develop or extend a branded product like when I worked on Ben Steins It’s Trivial for iPhone.
    • Provide better services and treatments for niche populations, such as when I worked on a minigame for physical therapists working with children in long-term hospital stays.
    • Reduce the cost of training employees. For instance, I’ve been a consultant for fortune 500 companies to create synchronous VR Safety Training games. Four players examined their VR environments for dangerous conditions under the supervision of a training officer who monitored each player’s view from “The Real World.” The company successfully ran its training seminar without:
      • the risk of injury
      • Cramped or inaccessible locations
      • Interrupt the daily routine of people on the work floor
      • Damaging expensive equipment or equipment that takes hours of preparation to use.

    Grant / nonprofit advisor

I have been a Primary Investigator on grants funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, The National Institute of Health, The National Science Foundation, Levante Initiative, and several awards internal to UConn.

Many people want to make games because they understand the power of games to engage and teach. As a researcher at an R1 university, I work with teams internally and internationally as a consultant to evaluate projects and write grant proposals.

Academic that needs a gut check or some assistance with an ongoing grant application, call me! I know the ins and outs of non-profit organizations, grants, and academic partners looking at research. Check out my research page for more.
